Text Yourself a Home-Screen Link for Any Web Page

Make a home-screen link

Put an icon on your phone's home screen that opens any web page: your home router, a dashboard, a booking or school page you open every day. Give it a name and the address, and we text you a link. Open it on your phone, add it to your home screen, and from then on one tap opens the page. Works on Android and iPhone, with nothing to install.

Set it up (about a minute)

  1. Open the Home-screen links page.
  2. Enter the name to show under the icon (for example Weather) and the web address it should open.
  3. Tap Make it and text it to me. If you aren't signed in, you sign in first (or start a free trial) and come straight back. The text looks like: Tap to put "Weather" on your home screen: https://useralertx.com/...
  4. Open the link on your phone and follow the two steps on the page:
    • Android (Chrome): tap the orange Add to my phone button, then Install. If the icon lands in your app list, long-press it and drag it to the home screen (or turn on Add app icons to Home screen in your home-screen settings).
    • iPhone (Safari): the Share button → Add to Home Screen.

The icon is an orange tile with the first letter of the name. Tap it, and the page opens.

Good to know

  • Cost: texting you the link is a normal UserAlertX alert, 1 token by text. Opening the icon costs nothing.
  • Any address: we never visit the page ourselves; your phone opens it. So it works for pages only your phone can reach, like your router at home.
  • Change your mind: delete the link on your account and the icon stops working. Delete the icon from your home screen as usual.
  • Up to 20 links per account. Your account page shows how many times each one was opened.
