Two ways to do this, depending on your ChatGPT plan. If your workspace supports custom connectors with write actions (ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu), use the MCP connector below — same hosted server Grok Bot uses. Most individual accounts (Free, Plus, Pro) can't invoke write-capable connectors even if they can add one, so for those, use your personal alert link instead — no connector needed, works with ChatGPT's plain browsing and with its Scheduled Tasks feature. We've verified the link method works end-to-end, including firing from an unattended Scheduled Task with nobody watching.
api_key is then on your account screen any time you sign in.https://useralertx.com/mcp, Auth header Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY.send_sms_to_me (send an alert), plus request_approval and confirm_approval (ask you to approve an action first). Tell it "text me via UserAlertX when X happens" and it calls the tool directly. This is the cleaner path when it's available — the api_key never touches a URL, it's sent once as a header straight to UserAlertX's send API. If your plan doesn't support write-action connectors, this will let you add the connector but calls won't actually send — use Option B instead.
Your account page has a Personal Alert Link — a private URL that triggers a real text/email to you when fetched. It's not your api_key; it's a separate, opaque, revocable link scoped to sending only (it can't read your account, change settings, or send to anyone but you).
On your account screen, below your API key: the first time, press Generate my link, then copy it. Anything that opens the link sends you an alert — so keep it private, and don't paste it anywhere that fetches link previews. There's a Regenerate button if you ever want to invalidate the old one — do this if you think it's leaked, same as you'd rotate any credential.
Params: k (required, your link's key) and body (optional, the alert text — a generic default is used if omitted). subject is also optional — sets the email Subject line for that one send only (email delivery only, no effect on SMS); leave it out and your account's saved default subject is used instead.

Paste the link into a ChatGPT chat and ask it to fetch it: "Fetch this URL and tell me what it returns: <your link>". That's a real send, not a preview — it happens the moment ChatGPT actually fetches it.
Ask ChatGPT to set up a Scheduled Task: "Check for X every hour. When it happens, fetch <your link> and tell me it's done." ChatGPT's Scheduled Tasks run unattended — genuinely while you're away — and this is the exact mechanism we tested and confirmed working live.
Set expectations accordingly: recurring monitoring checks are capped at roughly once per hour by ChatGPT itself, so there can be up to an hour of lag between X happening and the alert firing — this isn't a real-time push. ChatGPT can also auto-pause a task if you go quiet in the app for a while, which would silently stop the monitoring; check in on long-running tasks occasionally. Scheduled Tasks also require a paid ChatGPT plan (Free doesn't include them) — a one-off ask-it-directly fetch works regardless.
| The link is the credential | Anyone with it can trigger a send to you — treat it like a password. Don't paste it into a public prompt template, a shared doc, or anywhere other than a private chat with your own ChatGPT. |
|---|---|
| Destination | Always the one phone/email verified on your own UserAlertX account. There's no way to redirect it elsewhere. |
| Message content | ChatGPT can set the alert body text, and optionally an email subject (subject param, email delivery only), via the link's parameters; it cannot change who it goes to. |
| Rate limit | Same cap as every other UserAlertX send path — 10/hour, 50/day per account — so even a leaked/misused link can't be used to spam you without limit. |
| Revoke anytime | Regenerate it from the account screen. The old link stops working immediately; nothing else about your account changes. |
