What can't be sent by text

Phone carriers don't allow certain topics in text messages at all — even an alert you send to yourself. UserAlertX follows the same rules. All of these are fine by email.

Not allowed in a text

  • Stocks, trading and investment tips
  • Cryptocurrency
  • Loans, credit and debt relief
  • Cannabis, tobacco and alcohol
  • Firearms
  • Gambling
  • Adult content

These are the carriers' rules for every business that sends text messages (US carriers, through the text-message providers we use). The carriers fine every message that breaks them and can shut down the phone numbers that send them — for everyone using those numbers. That's why UserAlertX enforces them strictly, for every account.

What happens if an alert mentions one of these

Before any alert goes out by text, UserAlertX checks it. If it touches one of the topics above, it's sent to you by email instead, complete, and your phone gets a short notice to check your email. Nothing is lost and it costs the same as any email alert (1.5¢). The check can't be turned off, and once in a while it may treat an ordinary alert as restricted — the email still has everything.

Getting these alerts by email from the start

  • Everything by email: set Delivery method to Email on your account screen.
  • Just some alerts by email: add method=email to those requests (API), or send with uxsend using -m email (Windows: -Method email).
  • An AI assistant: ask it to email you with UserAlertX rather than text you.
